Abstract
The rapid development of artificial intelligence tools and their increasing capabilities have led to their widespread use in many different professional fields. The widespread inclusion of these tools in business processes brings about discussions of change and transformation in many issues such as business models, business processes, job descriptions, and workplaces. In the last few years, industrial design has also become an area where artificial intelligence tools are widely used. The fact that both companies and individual designers that develop physical and digital products have begun to incorporate ever-developing text and visual-based artificial intelligence tools into their design processes and are using these tools more frequently has made it inevitable for industrial design processes and industrial design professional practice to undergo a new transformation. However, there is a lack of studies in the existing design literature on how industrial designers experience this transformation caused by artificial intelligence. This study aims to contribute to this gap in the current literature. To do this a qualitative approach is adopted. One-on-one interviews with industrial designers and the data obtained from the analysis of these interviews are used to understand how artificial intelligence transforms design processes and to reveal how industrial designers experience this transformation.
