Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning of Online Design: Educational Technology for Inclusive Projects in Higher Education

Abstract

Education faces complex challenges derived from the pandemic and technological advances, which transform the dynamics of teaching and learning. This work is based on complex thinking, interdisciplinary and interculturality to analyze inclusion, multimodality and design in higher education in Mexico, aligning with the principles of New Mexican School and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Using the Service Learning methodology with a mixed approach, educational strategies were designed to combine virtuality, inclusion and innovative pedagogy. It is expected that the results will promote more meaningful and collaborative learning, favoring the integration of diverse contexts and sustainability in interdisciplinary design educational projects. The Sustainable Development Goals that apply to this project correspond to number four, Quality Education, and number ten, Reduction of inequalities. Both objectives seek inclusion as the guiding axis of society’s well-being and are embedded in an accessible, inclusive, flexible education that reduces inequalities, as well as the pre-existing technological gap. The educational problem at the classroom are diverse, on the one hand, the implementation of effective multimodal, interdisciplinary and inclusive education, and on the other hand, empathy, partial information and validation of the absent community. The general objective of the research is to search for tools to resolve group dynamics in the virtual, multidisciplinary and intercultural environment to address the technological gap between the institution and the community.
