The A + Preschool Teacher: Generation Changemakers

Abstract

Love is one of the most powerful tools available for teachers. it permeates every aspect of the preschool teaching and learning. We cannot give a new concept, welcome a child into the school, or handle any conflict without using the language of love. A child should feel safe and secure after interpreting their teacher’s language. And what they hear, feel and interpret has a huge impact on how they learn. Every child has a special language of love, a path in which he or she understands others’ feelings best. Children need to know that they are loved in order to develop into responsible, giving and loving adults. Language is far more than the simple expression of thoughts, feelings, and experiences. As psychologist Lev Vygotsky said, language produces “fundamentally new forms of behavior”. Preschool teachers can shape identities. What they say and do have a special power and it can deeply affect the sense of who their student are and who they might become. We explore: 1- What is a teacher’s language? 2- The power of listening 3- Speaking essentials 4- Helping students to reach high expectations 5- Direct and redirect: Giving clear directions 6- Asking and answering questions 7- Words of affirmation 8- Quality time 9- How to discover the best love language to each child 10- Anger and love 11- Letting children shine.
