Abstract
Agricultural products for both crop and animals are essential commodity all over the world and the issue of food security is one of the major global challenges that demands serious attention. The paper focuses on ways of addressing farmers- herders crisis through the use, support and cooperation of all the village heads of the farming communities in Adamawa State. This is based on the head knows all the calibre of farmers within their territory and the majority of farmers listening and giving respect to the village leaders. However, the study reveals that Nigeria has experienced the highest number of farmer-herder fatalities in West or Central Africa over the past decade. The crisis resulted to a large number of deaths among the farmers, low agricultural productivity and high price of food items all over the west African countries. The paper recommends that village head should be organizing regular meeting with farmers enlighten them on the consequences of crisis on both social, cultural and economical aspects. Additionally, the government should encourage, motivate and support all the cultural / community heads, in order to addressed the challenging of farmers-herders crisis in Nigeria.
