Abstract
Workplace ostracism has become the paradox of today’s modern organizations that emphasizes social integration and teamwork. Leveraging on conservation of resource (COR) theory and affect event theory (AET) we explore the intervening role of attitude towards diversity (ATD) and the moderating role of perceived organizational spiritual climate (POSC) in the relationship between spiritual leadership (SL) and perceived workplace ostracism (PWO). Data was collected from 332 federal civil servants in plateau state Nigeria at two different times. Andrew Hayes PROCESS Macro 4, model 7 and 8 were used to test the hypothesized relationships. The results reveal that, SL does not significantly relate with PWO. However SL relate positive relationship with ATD, a moderated mediation of POSC was found when ATD mediate between SL and PWO. The role of SL is insightful in understanding leader-subordinate relationship in enhancing high work passion amidst challenging interaction among peers. This study made a theoretical contribution through mediating role of ATD where AET supported COR to convey the conserved resources to attenuate negative work outcome.
