Abstract
Laya Yoga, a meditative practice that integrates rhythmic breathing and sound vibrations, has been recognized for its potential benefits on physiological functions. Bharathanatyam, a classical Indian dance form, demands high levels of endurance, flexibility, and coordination, making physiological efficiency crucial for adolescent practitioners. This study examines the impact of Laya Yoga on selected physiological variables, including heart rate, respiratory rate, among Bharathanatyam adolescents. A structured Laya Yoga intervention was administered over a specific period, and pre- and post-intervention assessments were conducted. The findings reveal significant improvements in cardiovascular efficiency, respiratory function, and overall flexibility. These results suggest that incorporating Laya Yoga into Bharathanatyam training can enhance physical performance and endurance, contributing to improved dance execution and reduced fatigue. The study underscores the importance of integrating yogic practices with traditional dance forms for holistic physical and mental well-being in adolescents.
