Abstract
Flooding is one of the recurrent hazards in Barangay Bulihan, Malolos, Bulacan, a low-lying barangay. This study evaluates the vulnerability of the barangay to flooding by taking into consideration physico-social environmental causes such as inadequate drainage systems, dangerous and inappropriate land use practices, and socio-economic challenges. Through geo-statistical methods and socio-economic data, the research assesses the impacts of the disasters on residents, especially the vulnerable ones, and the effectiveness of the current disaster preparedness and response measures. Such findings give insight into the root causes and consequences of flooding. Thus, it is possible to design targeted strategies for flood risk reduction and increased community resilience. Recommendations are intended to help policymakers, local governments, and residents create sustainable and evidence-based solutions for flood management that meet the requirements of a barangay.
