Relationship Between the Dimensions of Organizational Commitm ...
Abstract
This study examines the relationship between organizational commitment and professional burnout among healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, in Morocco. Data was collected from fifty-two nurses at the Provincial Hospital Center of Taroudant in Morocco through a self-administered online questionnaire. Structural equation modeling analysis (PLS-SEM) was conducted using SmartPLS4 software. The findings indicate that affective, normative, and continuous commitment significantly influence the three dimensions of professional burnout, namely emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. It was also found that affective commitment has a negative impact on personal accomplishment, normative commitment has a negative impact on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and continuous commitment has a negative impact on emotional exhaustion. These insights are of significant value to researchers, professionals, and managers in Moroccan healthcare settings. The conclusions imply that organizational commitment among employees and nurses can be pivotal in mitigating professional burnout. Consequently, healthcare organizations should consider implementing programs aimed at enhancing employee organizational commitment to safeguarding their mental health and well-being.
