The International Journal of Design Education sets out to understand how individuals learn the craft and mindset of today’s designer. In a rapidly changing world, effective design education must integrate diverse modes of “design thinking,” bridging theoretical reflection and hands-on practice. This journal explores teaching strategies that foster collaboration, creativity, and iterative problem-solving, equipping learners with the capacity to address complex design challenges across cultural and disciplinary boundaries. Reflecting on emergent pedagogies, it highlights how design students gain mastery through engagement with real-world applications, user-centered co-creation, and thoughtful experimentation. Topics of interest include design strategies, methodologies, and tactics that adapt to new media, collaborative environments, and sustainability imperatives. By examining forms of professional stance—ranging from reflective praxis to the conscientious designer-mentor—this journal seeks to inspire transformative teaching that shapes the next generation of designers.
